# tps Response speed can vary enough that a visible rate is more useful than a vague sense of waiting. tps shows Pi's output rate while a response is arriving and after it completes. ## Use Nothing to invoke. Send a prompt in Pi and watch the tokens-per-second value update during the assistant response. After the run, it settles on the response's output rate. An em dash means Pi has no usable output or timing data for that run. In the terminal UI the value appears in the shared footer when available, otherwise in Pi's status area.
