1. A session has reached a natural pivot: the fix is in, the follow-up is a different task.
2. `/handoff now add the same guard to the API layer`: the model distills the conversation into a self-contained prompt with context, decisions, files, and the next task.
3. The draft opens for editing; you add one constraint and submit.
4. A fresh session starts with that prompt pre-filled and the old session recorded as its parent, without the old history.
