# prompt-autopsy
Inspect exact system prompt Pi sent to your model when you need to understand unexpected agent behavior.
## Use it in Pi
Send at least one prompt first, then run `/prompt-autopsy` or press `Ctrl+Alt+A`.
The current provider-effective prompt opens in your configured external editor.
Its sections are grouped so tools, rules, project context, skills, and other prompt parts are easier to inspect.
If no turn has started since Pi started or reloaded, Pi asks you to send a prompt before it can show anything.
The prompt is written to a private temporary file and can contain project context, instructions, and other sensitive text.
Handle that file according to your local privacy requirements.
