# Brightness popup initial redesign

This plan covers the approved initial redesign only.
The later transactional DDC contract remains unplanned.

1. Extend pure brightness shaping and tests for real display rows, controllability, and global none, synced, and mixed state.
2. Extend the brightness service with live output state, display and global state, and an explicit user-triggered setup action.
3. Replace the panel with setup-only behavior when unavailable, global and preset controls when available, and independent display rows.
4. Route global, preset, and per-display interactions through the service interfaces.
5. Run targeted brightness tests, formatting, the zero-warning lint gate, and accepted-mockup visual review.

Exit when real-display behavior works without fake controls and all listed checks pass.
