# Email platform alternatives

Two incompatible replacements for `box.bugabinga.net` were investigated:

- a fresh x86_64 Mail-in-a-Box host followed by backup restore and DNS cutover;
- a custom Stalwart mail stack with separately designed DNS, backup, and observability.

Neither proposal was accepted or implemented.
Current repository consumers still use `box.bugabinga.net` for mail and DNS management.

Any future migration must explicitly cover mail data and aliases, DNS cutover, deliverability reputation, backup verification, rollback, and service sizing.
Historical prices, timelines, account lists, commands, and contradictory ARM/x86 sizing were discarded.
