# Luci current-state assessment

Assessed `trunk@45db070` on 2026-08-28 against current source, tests, infrastructure, and observed production metadata.

## Current shape

- Luci is a Go 1.26 service with KDL job configuration, ref polling, manual requests, sequential Podman execution, recovery, history, logs, caches, publishing, web views, and SSH reports.
- The repository declares `ci.bugabinga.net`, Caddy host port 8081, and public/peer SSH port 2223.
- Luci runs as dedicated rootless user `ci` and reads first-level public bare repositories.
- Initial ref discovery establishes a baseline; later branch and tag changes create inbox events.
- Per-repository hooks and Laminar are absent from the current deployment path.

## Verification

Passed:

- `go test -race -count=1 ./...`
- `go vet ./...`
- `tofu fmt -check -recursive`
- `tofu validate`
- public HTTP response

Incomplete or failed:

- statement coverage was 87.3%; mutation coverage was 95.15%, below the declared 100% target;
- the manual E2E was non-hermetic and contained obsolete dashboard assertions;
- the CI Quadlet check parsed no rendered Luci Quadlet;
- local Podman image build failed while creating its overlay build context;
- public SSH authentication failed with the available key;
- the OpenTofu plan replaced ten klops resources, not only Luci.

## Production observation

Production ran image `dd3de6a628c...`, built immediately after `265e469`, since 2026-08-05.
It was active with no queued, processing, or active runs and two failed inbox records.
Retained workspaces occupied 28 GiB and contained 865,635 files.

## Result

Current source was not deployable under the observed verification state.
Open issues capture the source-backed blockers.
